Des Tod, of Edinburgh was the inspiration behind the start of Tailor Built. He is the mentor and most importantly father of Kyle Tod who is the director of Tailor Built. 

Des Tod was in the construction industry for over 50 years to which he built many homes and commercial properties over the years. He became father to Kyle in 1986, over the years he brough his son into the industry ensuring from a young age that his Lego bricks were built right and eventually bringing his son on to sites to start his education. He taught his son until he retired in 2017. Kyle during this time trained as a skilled tradesman, attend college to get his HND in construction management. After 2017 Kyle then went into site management on new build homes working his way up from an assistant to project manager while winning awards and delivering high volume quality homes. He left the new build environment in 2022 and return into his first love of home refurbishments, extensions and bespoke new builds. During this time he was a contracts manager for 2 great bespoke building companies helping to deliver multiple successful projects. From 2017 to early 2024 he always leaned on his father for advice and support. In early 2024 Des Tod passed away from a short spell from an illness. His son, Kyle created Tailor Built in honour of his father who always focused on relationships, quality and reliability.
